When I first started experimenting with the kawaii style this was one of the first paintings I did - and of course Wendy fell in love with it... and of course I sold it at my show.
I'm a cad.
But I tried to make it up to her - I did a recreation for her birthday at a larger size, and set it up on an easel at the foot of the bed so she's see it when she woke up that morning.
Of course, she loved it. But every once in a while she'll say, "and there's my bluegirl... Leif sold it on me!" with that accusing tone, like I sold her favourite childhood doll, or our firstborn child.
Ya can't win! ;-)

is this real oils or painter oils? Its great!
Thanx sssnole! It's real oils... I always wanted to try them and they are as fun n' creamy as i always imagined they would be, plus the smell of linseed oil makes ya feel like a "real artist"! ;-)
Very nice, full of kindness. I´m not surprised that you´ve sold it.

Very nice... you cad! Selling that painting.... how could you? I hope you've learned your lesson. :o)
Say... when you say small... just what size are the little kawaii paintings you do?
There's a chain of dollar stores up here in canada called "Dollarama' and they sell stretched, primed canvases for a buck. The only thing is - they're small. About 6" x 8". But that's a great size for doin' cute li'l paintings!
This is a winner! Love the delicate treatment of the eyes. I'm not surprised it sold either. Nice to see the different styles you work in. Cheers!
CUTE character design!
Very nice.
Wow, I love the girl's eyes...They are beautiful...
love this one. you gotta post this on art blog challenge (being the theme this time is "wintertime")!
Hey Leif I'm diggin the paintings. Great color and composition! How much do your paintings typically sell for? By the way I love the "Army Mouse" work!
how could you!!
a recreation can never take place of the original! haha
sorry
very Nice Leif!
What can I say? I'm a commercial artist at heart and I was overwhelmed by the thought that somebody - a member of the public, mind you - was willing to shell out for a piece of my work. Yes, I am a cad. ;-)
Hey, love this one. Great!
